WillitsOnLine and the County of Mendocino have worked closely together to ensure reliable internet access to our library. It is through their generous contributions that all of our patrons have access everyday, all day.
Through a generous grant from the USDA Rural Development - Community Facilities Grant Program, the Friends of the RVPL have been able to equip our library with a great resource in computers. Below is a list of the computers, along with their specs, and the programs currently loaded.
Six Dell™ OptiPlex™ 380
loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 2002, which includes the following:

Microsoft Office Word 2003
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
Microsoft Office Publisher 2003
One 26” screen iMAC running on Snow Leopard.
Available to patrons are the iLife Suite, Adobe Creative Suite 4, and Microsoft Office. See below for a more complete list.

Preference for use is given to patrons requiring the high level of programs this computer has to offer.
If you have a project you would like to work on, we suggest reserving your slot ahead of time.
Things you’ll want to know as you enjoy the privilege of using our library and computers:
Our library makes use of Time Limit Manager. This means that you must sign in to use the computer and that your time at the station is limited to one hour per day. Your log in will automatically be shut down at the end of your allotted time, so plan your use carefully.
The library’s computer software is stored on the computers’ hard drives for patron use. Patrons may not use their own software on library computers. However, they may use their own flash drives, DVDs, and CDs.
Users wishing to save information may store material on their own portable storage devices or make use of the library printer for a fee of 10 ¢ per page. Thumb drives and blank DVDs are also available for purchase at the circulation desk if you have larger files you would like to preserve.
It is important to be considerate of the needs of other patrons in the library. To keep noise and distractions down, all patrons are required to use headsets when sound is involved in their use of the computer. Head sets are available for sale at the circulation desk or you may bring your own.
County policy does not allow for more that two people at any computer terminal at the same time. Exceptions are occasionally made for families working on a project, so when in doubt, please check with library staff.

We want a visit to our library to be pleasant and productive for all patrons. The library reserves the right to refuse computer use to anyone abusing the equipment, library materials, or library policies or regulations, or found to be disruptive.
